HEAD COACH

COACH LANDIS

Brian Landis will take over as the first head football coach of the Douglass Stallions after spending the 2016 season as the Defensive Quality Control Coach working with the Linebackers at the University of Kentucky. While at Kentucky, the Wildcats finished 7-6 record, reaching their first bowl game appearance in the Mark Stoops era. Prior to joining the Wildcats staff, Landis coached the Defensive Backs for the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels, working for Coach Dean Hood. Before joining Coach Hood and the EKU Colonels, Coach Landis spent the previous 8 years as the defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator for the Georgetown College Tigers. Landis got his start in coaching at Georgetown, where he was a graduate assistant in 2001, winning his second national championship. Landis has never been a part of a losing program in any one season, and owns a 162-58 overall record as a player and coach.

As a collegiate player at Georgetown, Landis was a three-time all-conference honoree at safety, and a Don Hansen All-American in his senior season. He was captain of the 2000 Tiger squad that won the NAIA national championship. Landis earned Defensive Player of the Game accolades in the 2000 national title game.

Landis played one year of professional football for the Lexington Horsemen arena team in 2004.

 

Landis holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Georgetown College. He and his wife, Ashley, have two sons – Park (seven) and Jack (four).
